Step Inside FCJ College: Celebrating the Achievements of a Remarkable Term

Jun 13, 2025

As the chilly mornings settle in and the countdown to the end of Term 2 begins, we hope everyone enjoyed a refreshing long weekend—complete with much needed rain and a sunny return to school.

This week, the whole school gathered for our end-of-term assembly—a moment to pause and reflect on the many highlights that have shaped Term 2. It’s been a term rich in growth, connection, and community spirit.

We hope you’ve enjoyed Stepping Inside FCJ College throughout the term—gaining a glimpse into the vibrant learning happening across classrooms, ovals, and beyond. From hands-on learning and creative exploration to outdoor adventures and sporting achievements, there’s been so much to celebrate.

As we edge closer to our 125-year celebration, the 2025 theme of Companionship has been at the heart of everything we do. During the assembly, School Captain Walter shared a heartfelt reflection, reminding us:

“Companionship is being present, genuine, and kind, especially when there’s nothing in it for you.”

He left his fellow students with a simple but powerful challenge:

“Find a way to be that companion for someone. Smile. Say hello. Make room. Ask the question. Those actions might seem small to you, but they can be huge to someone else. We have the power to make this school not just a place we attend, but a place where everyone feels like they belong.

Our Social Justice and Environment Captains also took the stage to reflect on their Term 2 highlights and proudly launch the new Social Justice Club—an open invitation to students and staff alike to deepen understanding and work together for positive change.

On the sporting front, our Sports Captains and Principal Mount presented medals to our Athletics Carnival Age Champions. Congratulations to the following students:

·        13 YearOlds: Alex Lambert & Matilda Jones

·        14 YearOlds: Thomas Mount & Lizzy Hotten

·        15 YearOld: Libby Renkin

·        16 YearOlds: Caelan Anderson-Riedl & Ruby Richardson

·        17 YearOlds: Samuel Gates & Eleanor Renkin

·        18–20 YearOlds: James Martin & Jayhe-Lee Quattrocchi

There was also plenty of excitement as Irish and Barney announced that lunchtime sport will launch in Term 3—offering inclusive, accessible opportunities for students to stay active, engaged, and connected during break times.

In the Arts, auditions for our upcoming production of The Tempest revealed an impressive array of talent. We’re delighted to officially announce the cast, led by Kirra Follett as Prospera and Nina Soledad as Miranda. The full cast list is now live, with rehearsals beginning early in Term 3.

A standout moment of the assembly was the presentation of our Students of the Term—congratulations to Lola Crook, Henry Briggs, Elly Decker, Abella Beckman, Bryce Cooney and Jade Rau.
From Lola’s quiet leadership and kindness to Henry’s unwavering authenticity and care, Elly’s consistent positivity, Abella’s warm sense of inclusion, Bryce’s balanced excellence, and Jade’s respectful spirit—these students truly embody the values that make our school community so special.

Principal Joseph Mount closed the assembly with this uplifting reminder:

Do not underestimate your contribution to those around you—each of you are companions of hope.”

It is a fitting message to carry us into the weekend and a powerful reflection of the community we continue to build together.

As we look ahead to the final weeks of term, there’s still so much more to come. Next week brings one of the biggest highlights of the year—our Let’s Find Our Voice Concert. We are beyond excited to welcome families and friends to Step Inside once more and witness something truly special.
