125th Anniversary
FCJ College Benalla is excited to announce the upcoming 125th anniversary of its founding in 1900, a milestone that will be celebrated throughout 2025. The anniversary will commemorate the journey of the FCJ Sisters, whose arrival in Benalla in 1900 laid the foundation for the vibrant educational institution we know today.
In 1900, the FCJ Sisters arrived in Benalla to establish a school that would provide young women with a strong, values-based education. Since its inception, FCJ College has upheld the mission of the FCJ Sisters, empowering generations of students through academic excellence, spiritual growth, and a deep commitment to community service. What began as a small, yet determined, educational initiative has grown into a respected college, with a rich history of educating young people in the spirit of the FCJ Characteristics of Companionship, Justice, Gentleness, Courage and Confidence.
Over the years, FCJ College has adapted to the changing needs of its students and the wider community from Benalla, Euroa, Mansfield and surrounding communities. From humble beginnings in a small building, the college has expanded its facilities, curriculum, and community programs, while maintaining its commitment to the values instilled by the FCJ Sisters. As the school has evolved, it has remained a place where tradition meets innovation, offering students a well-rounded education that prepares them for the future.
To celebrate this significant milestone, FCJ College will host a series of events throughout 2025, honouring its rich history and looking forward to the future. A key highlight will be a special lineup of events in August, beginning with Founders Day on August 15th, followed by the 125th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Saturday, August 16th, and Mass on Sunday, August 17th. These events will offer a wonderful opportunity for past and present members of the FCJ College community to come together, share memories, celebrate the College’s achievements, and honour the lasting impact of the FCJ Sisters on the school and its legacy.
Looking ahead, FCJ College is excited about the future. The College will continue to build on the strong foundation laid by the FCJ Sisters, offering innovative programs and a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially. The 125th anniversary celebrations will be an opportunity to reconnect with alumni, celebrate achievements, and inspire the next generation of students to continue the legacy of the FCJ College community.
